Sylvan Hill

It wasn’t always Swallowtail Hollow. Sylvan Hill was the name given to the home, near Mulberry, in Lincoln County, Tennessee when it was built in 1904/05 for Joel Dodson Parks and his wife, Emma Winifred Puckett Parks. The land was originally settled by Joel Parks' grandfather, Aaron Parks, in 1809. Over the years the homestead functioned as a plantation and stock farm, producing corn, wheat, oats and a variety of other grains. The house remains an example of Queen Anne–style residential architecture on the former Fayetteville and Mulberry Turnpike as the highway approaches Moore County. A few miles away, on the same road, is Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
